Had the moment of a lifetime Sunday night being able to be at the Rogers Centre to watch the Blue Jays walk off Texas 7-6 in 10 innings to sweep the ALDS 3-0 and advance to their second straight ALCS.
Neither starter was very sharp in this one, with Aaron Sanchez struggling into the 6th, while the Rangers’ Colby Lewis couldn’t get through the third. Again this year, the Achilles heel for Texas was their defence, especially in Games 1 and 3, and how sweet for Blue Jays fans that it was an error by Bautista-puncher Rougned Odor that allowed Josh Donaldson to score the game winning run.
The four days off before the start of the ALCS in either Boston or Cleveland will be a double-edged sword. It will help provide rest to some injured players like Devon Travis and Francisco Liriano and give the bullpen plenty of time to recharge. On the flip side, the Jays bats are running hot right now, and the layoff could affect their rhythm. Regardless…the Jays are there, and have the chance now to advance to their first World Series appearance in 23 years.
